Seleno-polysaccharide is a kind of organic seleno-compounds and has both of the bioactivities of polysaccharide and selenium. It is the effective form to transfer inorganic seleno-compounds to organic seleno-compounds and is easier to be absorbed and used by organism. Its bioactivity is higher than either polysaccharide or selenium. In this paper, inorganic selenium was employed to synthesize organic seleno-compounds, and then the organic seleno-compounds reacted with the carrageenan to form a new kind of Seleno-polysaccharide.The reported method in literature was improved by using halocarboxylic acid to prepare selenide and diselenide. Selenium was reduced to produce -Se- or -SeSe- by NaBH4, then reacted with halocarboxyl to give acetic acid selenide, propionic acid selenide, p-methylbenzoic acid selenide and propionic acid diselenide, p-methylbenzoic acid diselenide. Acetic acid selenide was transferred to acetyl chloride selenide to react with o-aminobenzoic acid and alicylic acid produce selenides with structures of o-aminobenzoic acid and alicylic acid. Then all the selenide and diselenide were transferred to acid chloride, and react with carrageenan to produce seleno-polysaccharide. The good bioactivity of seleno-polysaccharide is expected by combine the physiological activity and pharmacological activity of carrageenan and selenium. The structures of (1)~(7), Ⅰ~Ⅶ were confirmed by FT IR spectrum, 1H NMR spectrum and elemental analysis.
