Sulfated metal oxides have attracted wide attention in the area of solid acid catalysis. However, sulfated silicon oxide is generally considered not acid active. In this work, a series of SO42-/SiO2, SO42-/TiO2 and SO42-/ZrO2, donated as SS, ST and SZ respectively, were synthesized. The catalysts were characterized and evaluated with cyclization reaction of pseudoionone to ionones, to investigate the influence factors for sulfate metal oxides'catalytic performance, the catalytic performance of SO42-/SiO2, the regeneration of sulfated silica, and the effect of reaction conditions on sulfated silica's catalytic performance. The characterization and evaluation of SO42-/SiO2, SO42-/TiO2 and SO42-/ZrO2 show that the reaction can be taken over various sulfated metal oxides. The surface area and sulfur content have intimate connection with the catalyst's catalytic activity.A series of sulfated silica oxide samples denoted as SS and ASS were...
