The Low Temperature Methanol Washing (Rectisol) technology was an effective gas refining technique. Low temperature methanol used as solvent, the technology can remove the acid gas, such as H2S, CO2. Operated at low temperature and high pressure, high purification and good selectivity can be gained.Aspen Plus is widely used all over the world now, because it is versatile and powerful. Depending on exact models and scientific calculation methods, Aspen Plus can simulate the process flow strictly as well as optimize parameters of design and operation.Reference to study works of forerunners, this paper analyzed liquid-vapor equilibrium in the Rectisol unit. Also, this paper simulated the whole process flow of Rectisol unit designed by Linde at Shanghai Coking and Chemical Corporation by using Aspen Plus as tool and using PSRK properties. The simulation results is similar to original design data and actual running criteria highly.According to the full model of the whole process obtained through simulation, this paper emulated varied cases and analyzed sensitivities under the different feed flow, H2S content, shifted gas/unshifted gas ratio, liquid/vapour ratio, N2 flow used to stripping, H2O concentrate in loan methanol, and calculated hydraulics of every columns. Based on the emulation results, this paper found out operatable flexibilities, and proposed optimal operating parameters. In addition, this paper located capacity bottlenecks in the process and suggested debottlenecking schemes.
