Water pollution is a serious problem in our country. In order to improve the management and monitoring of water environmental, advanced technology must be adopted to establish remote automated water quality monitoring system for continuous and real-timely the environment of water quality. Water quality monitoring are the components of data source, pollution measurement, environment decision and dependence of management. It plays an important role in our environment protection.Based on the experience and the development tendency of water environmental monitoring at home and abroad, a set of automated monitoring system of water quality pH based on GPRS is established as a Changchun City Scientific enterprise technology innovation fund program. The system is composed of technology of sensor, auto-measurement, wireless communication, database and network. The system is made up of automated water quality monitoring device, GPRS module and water quality monitoring center.In the course of design, the central control module uses the TI Corporation's ultra low power MCU MSP430F149 as the main controller. The master controller is responsible for the data collecting and processing of the pH sensor. The system design four buttons to finish the essential function: the set button finish switch of upper and lower limit; The bit button select corresponding bit and the selected bit glitter; the increase button adjusts the value of the selected bit; the enter button saves finished sets and start to measure . The monitoring device includes a LCD1602 module, and the module can display the pH value. In addition, the UART port controls GPRS module transmitting. Through the measurement, pH value satisfies the precise of the requirement of water quality measurement, and the system has the stable running.Consider the requirement of environment monitoring, remote communication choose the mature GPRS, which is a high efficiency, low cost pocket radio service suitable for discontinuous, accidental, frequent and low data transmission or large data quantity sometimes. GPRS module is composed of German Siemens Corporation's high performance technical grade mobile phone module MC35I, firing circuit of the trigger MC35I module, the SIM card, the module work condition instruction, the antenna, the power source management as well as the CO110PC which is a TCP/IP protocol chip to pack and unfold the transmitting data. The GPRS wireless data transmission module was tested after accomplished the design. The module achieved the function of data transmitting without loss or error of data.WinSock network programming interface is used in this system for receiving data from GPRS module. Socket is the basic operation unit supporting TCP/IP protocol for network communication. Socket is similar to two intercommunication points between machine's processes. It forms the program interface in the single host machine and whole internet. At first, it is set up"listen"state, and waits for the connection from GPRS module. When two points set up connection, monitoring station could receive pH information form collection point and display them in list combo. At the same time, connection between Socket and database should be established, which save data into database for convenience management.In the environmental protection system, database is a very important part. Access database is used in this system. Access database is convenient for small database program in desktop, and also could be transferred into multi styles database, which is convenient for extension and update based on existing database. It has the characters such as convenient, good interface and high speed etc. Visual Basic platform is used for development of database and management of water quality parameter in monitoring system. Through practical test, it strengthens the security, agility and high efficiency for database management.In order to satisfy different needs of the voltage requests of each module, the power source administration module which outputted the voltage of 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V had specially been designed.After the work of hardware design and software programming, the entire system debugging and test were carried on. The test results indicate that the design has satisfied the requests of the system and achieves the anticipated goals.
