The forecast and assessment of Indoor Air Quality( IAQ) based on the grey system theory were studied in this paper. First, the history and current situation studies were summed up about IAQ, and the main pollutants and the pollution source of the indoor air were analyzed. Second, the main pollutants of five typical resident dwelling houses, such as NH3, TVOC, Rn, HCHO and C6H6 were detected. Then the explicabilities of the GM model, CFD and several areas methods were analyzed and compared. And the IAQ of resident dwelling house A was forecasted by GM model. At last the IAQ of the four resident dwelling houses B, C, D and E was assessed by grey clustering assessment, grey synthetically assessment, grey matter elements analysis and grey incidence analysis. The characteristic of the four assessment methods were analyzed and compared. By analyzing the source of the pollutants, forecasting and assessing the IAQ in quantity, the countermeasure and methods of the IAQ controlling were suggested.
