The epoxy resin is not convenient in practical use because of its high viscosity, therefore, some substances are often added as the diluents, which are to reduce the viscosity and strengthen the properties of the cured epoxy resin. The results were found as follows when 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether was used as diluent to the epoxy resin in the experiments.(1). The viscosity of the epoxy resin varied from 1700mPa.s to 91.5mPa.s as the weight percent of 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether in mixture changed from 0% to 30%,Therefore, there was no doubt to say that 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether had a good effect on diluting the epoxy resin. (2). The geling time changed little with the increase of 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether. (3). As the addition of 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether to epoxy resin, the properties of the cured epoxy resin with the curing agent DDM were strenghened more or less and reached the best with the weight percent of 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether to 25%, which was that the tensile strengh changed from 42.60MPa to 62.80MPa, the elongation at break changed from 5.40%to 8.22%, the properties of the cured epoxy resin were obviously improved on a large scale. (4). The weight of the cured epoxy resin varied little in absorbing water test. (5). we investigated the curing process of the mixture for neat epoxy resin/DDM mixture, epoxy resin diluted by 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether /DDM mixture, 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether /DDM mixture by means of differential scanning calorimeter in the end , the results showed that the apparent activation energies of the three systems were 46.08kJ/mol,39.50 kJ/mol,35.35 kJ/mol respectively, the reaction orders were 0.86,0.84,0.83 respectively. (6). The thermal stability of the cured epoxy resin almost did not change, which showed that the addition of 1.2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyle ether to epoxy resin had little influence on the thermal stability of the cured epoxy resin.
