Epoxy resin is a material with good adhesion, heat resistance and electricalinsulation, which can be used as adhesives, coatings, potting materials and compositematerials, and also widely used in electronic appliances, automotive, construction,aviation and other fields. However, it could not be well applied due to its viscosity,cured brittle and some other shortcomings. There are many ways on the epoxy resinmodified at present, but some deficiencies come in the practical application.This experiment used1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether as a reactivediluent,and then studied its influence to the epoxy curing system. First,1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether epoxy system can drastically reduce the viscosity, ithas no obvious impact to the adaptation period of the mixed system when usingdifferent curing agent and at different curing temperature. Secondly, the DSC analysisshowed that1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether can improve the activity of curingreaction; from the view of the gelation theory, it can reduce the epoxy resin curingreaction activation energy, when the mass fraction is30%, the system of activationenergy will decrease from57.93KJ/mol to52.73KJ/mol. Finally, it studied theinfluence of the1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether content to the mechanicalproperties, heat deflection temperature of the curing by using the different curingagents. It was found that by using the methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride as curingagent and when its percentage was30%, the tensile strength of castings will reach to69.49MPa, tensile modulus is7.36GPa, bending strength is103.32MPa, flexuralmodulus2.4GPa, impact strength is12.32KJ/m2, while heat deflection temperaturechange little.Double dicyclopentadiene is a epoxy alicyclic epoxy resin, which could solute inthe1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether and the solubility can reach to50%when thetemperature is75℃. The experiment used the orthogonal to study the mechanicalproperties of the E-44epoxy resin,1,2-cyclohexanediol diglycidyl ether anddicyclopentadiene dioxide epoxy under the different weight ratio, and the influnce onmechanical properties under different process conditions.It is showed that when theweight ratio is8:4:2, the curing temperature is100℃/3h+160℃/4h, promotingagent is1%, the tensile strength of cured is74.19MPa, the flexural strength is109.43MPa, the impact strength is13.67KJ/m2. Cycloaliphatic-based epoxyeffectively reduces heat deflection temperature of the curing.
