In this paper, in order to prepare nonlinear optical polymer materials with high nonlinear optical activity and thermal stability, nonlinear optical thiazole chromophores with highβvalues were designed and synthesized, two kind of nonlinear optical polyurethane composite materials were prepared, and the structures and properties of them were researched.Two nonlinear optical thiazole chromophores with active hydroxyethyl group were designed and synthesized. The structures and properties of the organic molecules were characterized by IR, elemental analysis, 1H MNR, UV-Vis and DSC-TG . The second order nonlinear optical properties of both were determined by hyper Rayleigh scattering method. The results show that the compounds have highβvalues of 5.60×10-28 and 5.76×10-28esu at 1064 nm wavelength, respectively. The maximum absorption wavelengths of the compounds were less then 600 nm, and their critical wavelengths below 710nm. These compounds were thermally stable with the decompounded temperature of 224 and 216℃, respectively, and consequently they could be considered to be better choices for the preparation of NLO materials.Novel PU-DR19-SiO2 nanocomposite material was prepared firstly by hydrolysis and condensation of alkoxysilane dye, polyurethane (PU) containing alkoxysilane and tetraethoxysiliane (TEOS) together through Sol-Gel process. The structure and properties were characterized by IR, SEM, TEM, Uv-vis and DSC-TGA measurements. The result showed that the organic phase connect with inorganic phase by covalent bond without separating of phase in the material, and the content of disperse red 19 with good nonlinearity in the material and the glassy temperature of the material increase remarkably, so the material could be used to manufacture second nonlinear apparatus having fine performance.Novel PUT/SiO2 nanocomposite material was prepared firstly by hydrolysis and condensation of alkoxysilane dye, polyurethane (PU) containing alkoxysilane and tetraethoxysiliane (TEOS) together through Sol-Gel process.
