Microencapsulation of phase change materials (MicroPCMs) is a kind of technology which is not developed until the past 30 years. MicroPCMs can storage a large amount of heat due to its direct and latent heat during phase change, which makes it having special temperature regulating function so that it have greater application potentiality in a lot of areas, especially, in some special fields. This research has prepared a series of MicroPCMs using in-situ polymerization, its wall performance is different from UF resin. n-Tetradecane was used as core material and Urea-formaldehyde resin was as wall material, nano-TiO2 and polyvinyl alcohol were selected to modify UF resin, respectively. The mechanical strength of MicroPCMs was characterized by a pump-circulating system., and the sealing property of the wall was investigated. The component of the wall was analyzed by IR and XPS spectra. Factors influence the performance of MicroPCMs were evaluated using DTA, TG, TEM,SEM and so on.Several kinds of different MicroPCMs were selected to compare the qualities and the factors that influence mechanical strength and sealing property of wall material were discussed. The result of study shows that not only the mechanical strength of MicroPCMs was improved notably by modifying UF resin with nano-TiO2, but also the toughness was increased. After the polyvinyl alcohol was put into the wall materal modified with nano-TiO2, the mechanical strength and the toughness were improved more greatly than before...
