Microencapsulated of phase change materials (MicroPCMs) is a technology notdeveloped until the past 30 years. MicroPCMs can storage a great lot of heat due to itsdirect and latent heat , which made it has special temperature regulating function sothat it has greater application potentiality in a lot of special fields.A series of MicroPCMs have been prepared by in-situ polymerization, andperformance of the wall was different from melamine resin. n-Tetradecane wasselected as core material. Either melamine resin modified with polyethyleneglycol-200, ethylene glycol and 1,3-propanediol respectively or melamine resin with alittle of 2.4-Diamino-6-Phenyl-s-Triazine mixed into it was selected as wall material.A kind of MicroPCMs with composite shell was prepared on the foundation ofmodified melamine resin, the wall of the microcapsule was composed with melamineresin modified with PEG200 and melamine resin. The mechanical strength of MicroPCMs was evaluated by a pump-circulatingsystem., and the sealing property of the wall was investigated, the component of thewall was analyzed by IR and XPS spectra, Factors that influence the performance ofMicroPCMs were characterized using DSC, TG, XRD,TEM,SEM and so on.Two methods of preparing MicroPCMs were applyed to discuss the effects thatprocess conditions placed on average particle size and particle size distribution. The result of study showed that the mechanical strength of MicroPCMs wasimproved notably by modifying melamine resin with PEG200, but the sealingproperty obviously dropped;MicroPCMs with composite shell had smooth surface, and particle size was even, not only the mechanical strength has been improved byone time but also the sealing property has bettered a lot..
