Theoretic prognostication and researching work show that the nanotubes have characteristics in mechanism, electrology and calorifics, which make it great application in these fields. The unsettled problems in synthesizeing high quality nanotubes and purifying the nanotubes baffle the researching work. So studying of synthesizing, purify, application, nanotubes becomes very important.A high purity carbon nanotubes with diameters ranging from 30nm to 40 nm were synthesized by decomposition of ferrocene-alcohol solution using N2 as the carrier gas. SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman and other testing methods were used to characterize carbon nanotubes. The results indicated that the concentration of carbon nanotubes, the shape of outcome and the crystallization of carbon nanotubes were influenced by preparation temperature, the concentration of ferrocene and the concentration of thiophene. At last, the better condition of carbon nanotubes synthesized by themal chemical vapour deposition was that the preparation temperature was 1000℃, the concentration of ferrocene was 10g/l and the concentration of thiophene was 0.3%.Carbon nanotubes were calcined in Ar. TEM and Raman were used to characterize carbon nanotubes purified. Its results indicated that amorphous carbon, catalyzes particles and graphite particles were clean. And the crystal of carbon nanotubes purified was better.On basis of the microcosmic morphology of the products, a possible mechanism is proposed to explain the growth of carbon nanotube and bamboo carbon nanotubes when alcohol as the carbon source. The effect of N2 in growing of bamboo carbon nanotubes is researched.The elementary application of carbon nanotube is studied. A CNT-toughened CVD-SiC coating to protect carbon/carbon composites is prepared for the first time. And we study the microcosmic morphology and the the oxidation resistance properties of the coating materials.
