The effect of current density, frequency, duty cycle, additives in electrolyte and thickness on wear-resistant of ceramic layers formed by microarc oxidation was investigated, respectively. And the comparison of wear-resistant among ceramic layer, durionsing and cast iron was carried out. The feasibility of the application of microarc oxidation technique to the treatment of inner surface of steam cylinder was studied by measuring the change of inner diameter, roughness and bench test. The results show that the surface morphology of ceramic layer is of benefit to frictional wear under the condition of lubrication. The run-in wear mass loss of MAO ceramic layers increases while surface roughness of the layers increases with the increase of current density. Single pulse energy is affected by frequency and duty ratio, which can not be extremely big and small in order to obtain wear-resisting MAO coatings. Although it works on the run-in wear mass loss and the run-in time of the coatings, the thickness of MAO coatings doesn't almost affect the wear-resistance of the coatings after the run-in wear under the condition of same thickness. The wear resistant of aluminum alloy processed by microarc oxidation elevates notably compared with durionsing. The results of bench test demonstrate that the wear-resistant of inner surface of steam cylinder treated by microarc oxidation reaches enterprise standard.
