Human health is greatly threatened by the bacteria and viruses with drug resistance mainly caused by environmental pollution and drug abuse. Electrolyzed oxidizing water, with advantages of strong sterilization and disinfection ability, harmlessness to human and environment and convenient operation, can efficiently kill many pathogenic bacteria and viruses. The influences of electrolyte concentration, applied voltage, electrode gap and electrolysis time on electrolyzed oxidizing water were discussed in the paper. The parameters were optimized through orthoganol test to improve the electrolysis efficiency. The components of EOW were detected by titration, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, etc, to benefit the deeper researches. The results of single factor analysis demonstrated that the quality of EOW was improved with the increase of electrolyte concentration, applied voltage and electrolysis time and the decrease of electrode gap. The optimal conditions were CNaCl=2.0g/L, U=20V, d=25mm and t=3min determined by the orthoganol test. The quality of EOW prepared under the optimal conditions was pH=2.34, ORP=1169mV, TOSs=99.94mg/L.The results of component analysis showed the predominant chlorine species was hypochlorous acid which was an important disinfectant in EOW. The available chlorine loss was due to evaporation of dissolved chlorine gas and HC10 decomposition. The active oxygen species was in low concentration and gradually reduced in EOW.The sodium sulfate was used as the electrolyte instead of sodium chlorid. The results elucidated the low pH of EOW was mainly caused by oxygen evolution and the high ORP was mainly generated by both chlorine and oxygen evolution.
