Translucent yttrium garnet doped Nd3+ (Nd:YAG) ceramics become a potential laser material because of optical properties and advantages of preparing technogy. To synthesize Nd:YAG powders with good sintering character is a critical factor of preparing Nd:YAG translucent ceramics. In this thesis, the synthesis of stuff powders of Nd:YAG translucent ceramics by the co-precipitation method and the citric acid-gel-combustion method was studied. The properties of Nd:YAG powders were investigated. TG-DTA, FT-IR, XRD, and SEM were used to study the structure and pattern of the products. The stuff powders which were adaptive for preparing Nd:YAG translucent ceramic were gained, and the optimum condition of preparing Nd: YAG powders by the co-precipitation method and the citric acid-gel-combustion method.
