Resol Phenolic Resin modified by Montmorillonite (MMT/PF resin) was prepared in situ polymerization, and it was used to prepare a kind of environmental Ester-Cured Phenolic resin (ECP).The effect of dispersion methods, dispersion time and the molecular weight of polyethylene glycol on the montmorillonite surface modification, the effect of reaction condition on the preparation of MMT/PF resin, the relationship of bonding strength and the consistant of MMT/PF resin binder, curing condition etal, the curing mechanism of ester-cured MMT/PF resin, the curing reaction kinetics, the feature of ester-cured MMT/PF resin heated process, and the thermal decomposition kinetics were studied. The results showed that : MMT modified by PEG of molecular weight 400 (PEG-400) through ultrasonic dispersion method for 10min was best ; the bonding strength of MMT/PF resin binder was the biggest respectively when the MMT amount was 0.6% approximately, when the triacetyl glycerine amount was 25% approximately, when the curing temperature was 50℃,when the curing time was 24h ; the curing process of MMT/PF resin was the reaction of resin hydroxyl, the reaction of hydroxymethyl and the reaction of hydroxymethyl and active hydrogen ; the catabilyty of three kinds of acetin increased obviously with different rate when the temperature raised , and the triacetyl glycerine and glyceryl diacetate catalysis was first order reaction , the activation energy of which was 11.00 kJ·mol-1和23.76 kJ·mol-1 respectively , while monoacetin catalysis was second order reaction , the activation energy of which was 65.39 kJ·mol-1 ; MMT/PF resin would occur secondary consolidation when it was heated ; the heat resistance increased when the MMT amount of MMT/PF resin increased ; the thermal decomposition of MMT/PF resin was first order reaction , and when the temperature raised the reaction order was smaller , the activation energy was 41.83 kJ·mol-1 .
