The development history, present situation, process flow and tendency of synthetic ammonia industry were introduced. The process flow and the main units of synthetic ammonia in Lanzhou Petrochemical Fertilizer Plant were described. The process flow of the Sheel gasfication section , the Rectisol desulfurization section, the CO shift conversion section and the Rectisol decarbonation section which were reformed in 2001 were focused.The energy comsumption after reformation of oil alter gas in Lanzhou Petrochemical Fertilizer Plant was analyzed on increasing efficiency and improving profitability. Natural gas as the feedstock was used in partial oxidation process. The multifactorial energy comsumption and converting kiln energy comsumption were raised. Energy cost per ton ammonia is analysised in this paper, and after that, the derection of improvement was found.Carbon content and sulfer content in sweet gas which were produced by natural gas as starting raw materials were declined. The adervice of process improvement and theories basises were given by using simulated softwire in the simulation of the Rectisol desulfurization section. The feasibility of modification of the process and the advantages and disadvantages of the two advices were determined. The theoretical basis for design was provided.
