The difficulty of injection molding quality control depends not only on the complex process dynamics and the unpredictability of material behavior related to the variation of temperature and pressure, but also on the lacking of the estimation of the relationship between part quality and process parameters. So, it's the premise of part quality control to study and model the relationship between injection-molded part quality and process parameters. This paper pays attention to investigation of influence of processing parameter and glass fiber content on glass fiber reinforced polypropylene part quality such as shrinkage, tensile strength. The influence of melt temperature, mold temperature, injection time, holding pressure, holding pressure time and fiber content on the part quality was investigated based on orthogonal experiments and the significant factors were selected. Single-factor experiments were conducted to get the detail information of the variation of single factor and fiber content on the part quality indexes. The main works are as follows:1. Based on MPI(Moldflow Plastic Insight) and orthogonal experiments, the influence of processing parameters and glass fiber content on shrinkage and warpage of glass fiber reinforced PP part was investigated, and the influence relationship was obtained.2.Orthogonal experiments based on Taguchi DOE are conducted using 4 kinds of material () to investigate relationships of shrinkage with processing parameters and fiber content based on injection molding experiments, and the influence relationship and significance of the factors are determined and the optimal factor level combinations are obtained.3. Based on 3 levels of mold temperature, single-factor experiments for melt temperature, injection time, packing time and packing pressure was conducted. The influence rules of processing parameter and glass fiber content on shrinkage, tensile strength were achieved by injection molding, measure, tensile test.4. Orientation and distribution of glass fiber in the part was observed using the metallographic microscope, and the influence of processing parameters on glass fiber orientation was studied, and the relationship of tensile strength related to fiber orientation and processing parameters was analyzed.
