As an important tool of machining polished ceramic, diamond tool is widely used on the polishing production-line, As a compound polycrystalline material, porcelain tiles have the characteristics of complex component, high hardness and brittleness. The performace of diamond tools used for eliminating the flaw of porcelain tiles mainly depends on the composition and microstructure of the materix material.However, as the skeleton material, WC is the important portion of matriex materials for improving martix property. In this paper, a new kind of diamond tool and disassembly segments is designed. The effect of particle size and content of WC on the microstructure,mechanics performance, grinding performance and wear mechanism of the matrix of diamond tool is studied.The components of matrix, bonding interface between diamond and matrix and the distribution of elments added in the martix with different particle size of WC, normal particle size of WC and doped nano-sized WC, which were observed and analyzed by means of scanning electronic microscope, metallographic microscope. The results show that most elements added in matrix materials formed alloy except WC, and WC distributs in the martix. There are more WC, Fe and less carbide elements such as Cr, Ti and Co around diamond. When added WC with the particle of 40μm , the content of 3 weiht percent) andnano-sized WC with the content of 0.75 weight percent in the martix, the structure of the matrix is uniformer and the bond between martix and diamond is better. Matrix doped with nano-sized WC has better structure, less pore, fine crystal than the matrix without adding nano-sized WC.Mechanics performance of the matrix with different components and application performance of diamond tools are studiedThe result shows that the bending strength and the hardness of pure matrix and matrix change little with different particle size of WCand different content WC, but the bending strength of matrix is smaller than corresponding matrix materials. When added WC with the particle size of 40μm and the content of 3 weight percent in the martix, the longevity and the grinding efficiency of the diamond tool are correspondingly high. The bending strength of martix doped with nano-sized WC is larger than the matrix without adding nano-sized WC. When doped with nano-sized WC with the content of 0.75 percent in the martix, the diamond tool has longer lifeand better grinding performance.Wear of segment on the same spiral thread different position, surface quality of grinded porcelain tiles, wear of diamond segment and diamond grit are also studied by means of diamond cylinder with double disassembly segment. The results show that wear of segment on the same spiral thread different position changes smaller. Surface quality of porcelain tiles grinded by diamond cylinder with different particle size of WC, different content WC and nano-sized WC change smaller too. The surface morphology of segments of diamond grinded porcelain tiles is observed by SEM, the wear of segment and diamond grit is also analyzed...
