Color filter (CF) is the key part of liquid crystal display (LCD) , mainly formed by glass substrates, black film and color filter layers. In this paper, four kinds of polyamide acid (PAA) which can be used for making the pigment dispersion color filter is synthesized .Their melting viscosity were tested and analyzed。The effect of reaction temperature, reaction time, the sequence of addition, mole ratio between dianhydride and diamine on the melting viscosity of polyamide acid were studied, finally the best conditions of the process were found。The conversion of the polyamide acid samples to the polyamide is accomplished by the thermal solid—phase imidization process。The chemical structure of films are analyzed by IR. TG was employed to study thermal properties of PI films. Some elementary study was also done in the transparency and mechanical properties of the film. After the test and analyze the relations between their properties and chemical structure were discussed. It was observed that polyamide all have excellent thermal property and mechanical character. The results also showed that asymmetric structure endowed the polyimide film good transparency in the visible light region, and silicon-containing polyimide film has better adhesive characteristics than the others. In order to get good dispersion in DMAC disposal to carbon and red blue green pigments is necessary. A series of experiments were performed to explore the best technology way to improve their dispersancy and stability in PA.By mixing the polyimide acid precursor solution with suitable portions of red, green, blue and black pigments。Then laminating them onto a glass substrate, photo-lithographing and curing the laminations, finally four kinds of color films with good performance were fabricated successfully .
