In this thesis, the current researching of catalytic partial oxidation of methane to methanol at home and abroad was reviewed. And the literature indicated that the crucial factor which influnced this technology was the catalyst. The catalyst which were prepared at the early stage had problem of low conversion, pollution, high cost and poor stability. The shortcoming can be overcome when I2 as catalyst, and the reaction had higher conversion and yield. But until now, the research of the factors which can influence the technology was deficient and the technology was not perfect.So in this article, we used I2 as catalyst. The effect of press, concentration of the oleum, temperature and the stirring rate on the reaction when the oleum as the solvent was discussed firstly. The experimental results indicated that the conversion of the methane increased with the increase of press and temperature, but the selectivity decreased. The conversion increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of the concentration of the oleum, but the selectivity decreased gradually. And the conversion increased with the increase of the stirring rate, but the conversion kept constant when the stirring rate increased to a certain rate. Finally, In the study of catalytic mechanism, the catalytic mechanism of the reaction was deduced based upon the literature and the phenomena of the experiments, the electrophilic alternative mechanism was suggested.and CH3I was made in the process of the reaction.
