Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook is the mostly important plant in our country, and vastly distributed in south china. It's belong to Cunninghamia of Taxodiaceae. The cedrol is the major component accounting for 70% in the total essential oil from Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook. There are also other components, including cedrene,alpha-pinene,elemen,alpha-terpineol etc.. They have strongly aromatic-muskiness-perfume.The essential oil from Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook is mostly used in Cosmetic and soap, also appended in fantastic style essence. It was studied that the Green Crown extract by Solvent method, the essential oil extracted by steam distillation from Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook, and the cedrane-8,9-diol gained by reacting between the reaction reagent and cedrene. The Green Crown was extract by Solvent method. The yield of extraction was 4.84%.The unsaponifiable matter accouted for 90% in the extraction.Six fractions of the unsaponifiable matter were separated by columniation layer analysis. The fraction was analyzed by GC-MS. The result indicated that the primaly component of extraction from Green Crown was anisaldehyde. It was studied on essential oil extracted by steam distillation from Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook. It was researched that the effect of factors including temperature of vapor, extracting time, dosage of vapor to the yield of essential oil. The dosage of vapor was the uppermost factor in extracting Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook. The effect trend to content of cedrol, cedrene was the same to trend to yield of of essential oil. Optimizing conditions of the extract technology were temperature of vapor 150℃,extracting time 180min,the 1% vapor comparatively raw material needed by one minute. The results were that the final yield of essential oil from the stock of Cunninghamia Lanceolata was 1.04%,the content of cedrol was 53.9%,the content of cedrene was 5.03%. Essential oil of each part was extracted by steam distillation. The results were as following:the yield of essential oil from root 0.96%,the content of cedrol 46.9%,the content of cedrene 8.56%;The yield of essential oil from branch 0.25%,the content of cedrol 34.6%,the content of cedrene 4.67%.The content of essential oil in the root of stock was the highest among stock from Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb) Hook, the content of cedrol was highest in the root of stock. While the content of cedrene was lowest in the middle part of stock. The cedrane-8,9-diol was first gained by reacting between the reaction reagent and cedrene. The cedrane-8,9-diol was identified by GC-MS,IR,~1HNMR. Optimizing conditions of the reaction were as follows:the reaction temperature 50℃,the reaction time 190min,the dosage of reaction reagent 4/9 and the dosage of petroleum ether1/10,comparatively the volume of cedrene. The final content of cedrane-8,9-diol in product could be maintained 54.3%.
