Dry classification plays an increasing important role in powder engineering. The research and development of dry classifier have become hotspot in powder industries. Inspired by separation of oil and smoke in household range hood, this paper tried to reconstruct it into dry classifier, which mainly includes the transformation of the classifying chamber and the manufacture of the dispersing section, feeding section, and powder product collecting section. Two simple and cheap dry classifiers used in laboratory which include the vertical classifier and the horizontal classifier were developed. This paper described the classifier's design idea, subassembly sources, the transforming course and the cost in detail and studied two classifier's classifying effect. The effect of the rotation rate and the ventilation quantity on cut size and the influence of the material's volume concentration and the feeding wind's speed, the secondary air's quantity, the exhaust fan's wind pressure on separation efficiency were obtained. The cut size minished and the separation efficiency increased with the height increase of the dispersing chamber of the vertical dry classifier used in laboratory. The cut size augmented and separation efficiency reduced with the increase of the rotor's rotation rate. The cut size decreased with increase of the rotor's rotation rate of the horizontal dry classifier used in laboratory. When the material's feeding speed increased, the cut size dropped and then rose and the separation efficiency show the adverse law. The cut size augmented with increase of the secondary air's quantity. With the increase of the wind pressure of the exhaust fan or the decrease of the feeding wind speed the cut size minished and the separation efficiency increased.
