The 21st century will be the information times. The video information is very popular for its direct-viewing, convenient and greate information content. Along with the technical development, the video monitoring system obtained the widespread application in the industrial production, national defence and security, and daily life. The video monitoring technology fused the computer, multimedia, communications, network and so on many technologies, becomes one of hot spots which the people studies, has the broad application prospect and the research value.Nowadays in the market has two types of the digital video monitoring system, one type is a digital video monitoring system that takes the digital video recording equipment as the core, another type is a digital video monitoring system that takes embedded video web server as the core. The former type takes PC and the video gathering card as the core, mainly has the system cost and the stable aspect question; The latter takes embedded system as the core, the software and hardware may reduce, can adapt to each situation that has strict request on function, reliability, cost, volume and so on. This is precisely the video monitoring technology development tendency and the key this article researched.This article takes realizing self-service operation of numerical control machine tools as the application background, we integrates advanced embedded technology, video compressing and coding technology, and networking technology, applies them to the remote monitoring of the numerical control machine tools. At first the analog input signals from the CCD camera are transformed into digital signals, and then output to the DSP system, where the video sequence is encoded according to the new generation image compressing standard called H.264. The code will be transmitted to the ARM system through xBus, the ARM system is the embedded video web server, and the compressing code will be packed in the ARM system and transmitted to the clients if they need, and do some related research on the QoS problem which may be met during the network transmission .This system integrates web technology, embedded technology, video compressing and coding technology, can be widely used in self-service operation of numerical control machine tools and intelligent monitoring areas.
