The clothing which is second skin of human beings has important significance to human beings'survival and life. With improvement of people's living level and strengthening of consciousness to health, demands of people to clothing is not confined to durability and attractive looks any more, while attaches importance to the comfortableness on the clothing wear especially. Because of the human body physiological characteristics, temperature, humidity as well as pressure of human foot is sometimes the most difficult to satisfy demands to comfortableness for the human body. So studies and development on the functional materials are needed urgently in order to ensure comfortableness and health of foot. The gel which is a sort of "soft, wet " materials being situated between liquid and solid has functions of water and dampness absorption, keeping liquid under pressure, responding to changes in environment, preserving heat and coolness, reserving stability, softness and elasticity, safety in using and so on. Therefore, gels have good prospect in the application fields of textile and the clothing with special function. The gel using in core material of insole can absorb sweat, reserve heat and relieve pressure of foot, so the demand of foot comfortableness can be easily satisfied.Application of gels in textiles and garments was preliminarily discussed by studying functional gel insole in this thesis. The main study content includes several following aspects:1. Analysis of Foot ComfortablenessRange and distribution of pressure as well as amount of foot sweat were analyzed under different situation and environment. It has been ascertained that pressure of foot pelma is mainly affected by movement state. The author measured pressure area of foot pelma and superficices of foot, which were respectively 93.15cm2 and 560.71 cm2. On drawing the basis of study achievement about pelma pressure distribution and amount of skin sweat, it has deduced out intensity range of pelma pressure and the foot sweating amount, which made preparation for the basis of test and synthesis of gel material and structure design of insole.2. Synthesis of Functional Gel MaterialStatic aqueous solution polymerization was adopted to synthesize gel to be using in the core material of insole. It was reached for the gel that sorption amount 1.58g/g was appropriate, sorption rate to sweat 0.022g/g·sec was quick, water maintance rate 98% and gel intensity 2.25MPa could satisfiy were high enough, which still possess effective function of heat preservation, moisture absorption and higher gel strength under certain pressure that less than 250KPa.The consquainces of infrared spectrum and scan electron microscopy were analyzed to ascertain effection of physical and chemical structure of gel to its properties. According to the synthetic material performance test results, the dosages of reagent were adjusted and conditions of experiment were changed to get the best polymerization solution of gel material using in insole. The parameter of polymerization solution were: temperature of polymerization is 40℃, time of polymerization is 45min, neutralization degree is 75%, amount of evocating agent is 0.6wt%, amount of crosslink agent 0.15wt%, amount of stabilizing agent 1wt%,AA and AM mol ratio 5:1,achol and water volume ratio is 0.15,amount of surface active agent OP-10 is 0.3g, and the temperature of gel surface crosslink treatment is 120℃and the time is 30min。3. Synthesis of Gel Core Material and structure design of InsoleAppropriate fabric which was selected to be carrier substance was combined with gel to form core material of insole. Functions and performance of core material such as heat preservation, moisture absorption, sweat absorption, elasticity were studied. And rational insole structure was designed to satisfy the demand of foot comfortableness. The absoroption amount to sweat of gel insole is 0.286g/cm2, and the rate is 0.03g/g·sec . The application of gel material on other aspects of textiles and garments were preliminarily discussed.In this thesis, the best polymerization solution of gel material using in insole was obtained, and the effect of gel's physical and chemical structure to its performances were studied, and gel core material of insole which reaches applicatory request was synthesized, and rational structure of gel insole was designed according to the demands of foot comfortableness. The functional gel insole has been able to satisfy the requests of human body to temperature, humidity and pressure comfortableness to a certain extent. The research methods and results in this study have certain effects of enlightenment and reference to the study of gel material synthesis and application in textiles and garments.
