Methyl chloride is the solvent in the course of preparing butyl rubber ,and n-hexane is the solvent in the course of preparing halogenated butyl rubber. For implementing continuous production of halogenated butyl rubber,we should exchange methyl chloride for n-hexane. In the course of solvent change, gas-liquid phase equilibrium of methyl chloride-n-hexane binary system(solubility) is very important. So that, gas-liquid phase equilibrium of methyl chloride -n-hexane binary system(solubility) was researched in this paper.First of all, phase equilibrium equipment with magnetic stirring apparatus was developed and used in mensurating the solubility of methyl chloride in n-hexane, its reliability was proved. The solubilities at 25℃, 30℃, 35℃, 40℃were measured respectively and the averages of Henry constants are 884kPa,959kPa,1067kPa,1172kPa. It is found that the solubility of methyl chloride in n-hexane decreases with the increase of temperature, but increases with the increase of pressure. This consists with law of Henry. Then, y is calculated according to equilibrium pressure and methyl chloride partial pressure.we get gas-liquid phase equilibrium data of methyl chloride-n-hexane binary system.Secondly, PR and R-K-S EOS(equation of state)were both used to calculate gas-liquid phase equilibrium data of methyl chloride-n-hexane binary system. Little standard error proved that PR and R-K-S EOS were suitable to regress gas-liquid phase equilibrium data of methyl chloride-n-hexane binary system. PR is superior to R-K-S.Depending on it,weSimulated gas-liquid phase equilibrium data of methyl chloride-n-hexane binary system in all concention area and regressed P-x,y and x-y phase graph.Finally,the solubility of methyl chloride in solvent naphtha was mensurated to accord to industrial application.A phase equilibrium apparatus in which liquid circulates was designed and established. The equilibrium liquid constitute was mensurated by GC and the solubility at various temperature was mensurated.
