Alkyl modified siloxane is the product of methyl group in dimethyl siloxanereplaced partly by other alkyl chains. Alkyl modified siloxane is good lubrication,water-resistance, anti-fouling, anti-tacking, printable, and strong affinity to organicmaterials, especially for its low wear-out, low friction coefficient and highsusceptibility of additives that used as lubrication. Besides, it has the excellentproperties in printing, impression and paint that used as mold-release agent. Therefore, alkyl modified siloxane is applied widely and researched thoroughly. By means ofconsulting a great deal of literatures and patents, the synthesis of alkyl modifiedsiloxane was performed by hydrosilation of poly(melthylhydrosiloxane) and terpene,in the presence of platinum catalyst. The method we selected is relatively simple, thematerial is easily acquired, the experiment condition is mild. Then by combination oforthogonal design and method of single factor, the regularities of the influence of theproportion of the raw material, the reaction temperature, the reaction time, amount of catalyst used on the yield of alkyl modified siloxane were studied.Accordingly the reaction conditions preferable to the synthesis of alkyl modifiedsiloxane were as follows: The proportion of the raw material was m(melthylhydrosiloxane):m(terpene)=20: 40; the reaction temperature was 110℃; the reactiontime continued for 4 hours; amount of catalyst used was based on the raw materialweight of 0.003%. The structure of the product was determined by refractive index,~1H-NMR and FT-IR.
