At present, water pollution and lake eutrophication in the world are still gettingmore and more exacerbated, algae are one of the important organisms in lakeeco-system, whose growth is favorable for metabolizing and energy following onkeeping aquatic ecosystem balance. Heretofore, algal biotechnology has beenextensively studied and applied in improving water quality and removing nutrientsfrom eutrophic or contaminated waters. In this paper, via a series of experiments with on algae growth characteristicsand removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, together with analysis of the experimentalresults, proper algae species and study on methods and mechanism for removalNitrogen and Phosphorus in wastewater by algae is presented.During the investigations, the author found that Chlorella vulgaris is the mostproper algae species in wastewater treatment, on the experiments, Chlorella vulgarisgot 80% removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus. The other algae speciesremoval efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus is efficient too. All these show that algaehave the potential application feasibility for the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus. In theprocess of removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, different algae has different efficiency of nitrogenand phosphorus The sequence of absorption priority of different nitrogen by algae is NH3- -N,ureaand NO3- -N,NO2- -N.In this paper, the efficiency of bacterium-algae mix intergrowth in wastewater isinvestigation. It provide theoretics investigation and availability explore for algaeapplied in improving water quality and wastewater treatment.
