Expangded graphite is a porous material which is produced by natural squama gaphite by means of oxidation, inserting, watering, dryness and expansion. As a new environmental material, the researches on its application to adsorption have started, and the relevant reports on the adsorbing oils are more than that on others. In this thesis, our work was to synthesize the expanded graphite by electrochemistry method and to study the adsorption capability of the expanded graphite. The main research work are as follows:First, the expanded graphite was synthesized by electrochemistry method. There was operated to investigate the effects of various factors including the particle size of natural graphite, current intensity, the reaction time on the intercalated reaction and so on. In addition, the structure and apparent performance of expanded graphite graphite were studied by means of XRD, SEM, XPS, FI-IR and so on. The creating mechanism was also be discussed.Second, the adsorption of expanded graphite on fomaldehyde gas and nitride oxides was researched. At the same time, the impacte on adsorptive effects were studied the different prepare conditions of expangded graphite and adsorptive conditions. The adsorptive effects of expanded graphite, bamboo charcoal and activated carbons were compared. And the reuse effect of adsorbent was investigated. The adsorptive mechanism was also be discussed.Third, the adsorption of expanded graphite on cosine dyestuff and the student blue dyestuff was researched. Some factors affecting the adsorption were studied, including time of picking sample, pH of dydestuff and so on. The adsorptive effects of expanded graphite, bamboo charcoal and activated carbons were compared. And the reuse effect of adsorbent was investigated. The adsorptive mechanism was also be discussed.
