strip-partial mining as one of the important measure with mining under buildings, water, railroads is applied extensively in coal mine area of our country. But the application of the great mining depth and high seam strip-partial mining has just started, a lot of problems are worth studying. The problems of coal pillar stability in the strip-partial mining are studied in the paper, especially on the stability of deep strip-partial mining, mechanism of failure deformation and the surface deformation characteristic. Based on mechanical analysis on the strip coal pillar, the catastrophic failure theory model of horizontal strip coal pillar are founded by catastrophic theory, and the stability and non-liner process of instability of strip coal pillar are researched; According to failure deformation and control theory of key stratum, it is discussed that the relation with the ultimate width of strip-partial mining and the ultimate spans of the key stratum; On the basis of analysis on the existing calculating methods of the plastic zone width of coal pillar, the coal pillar's plastic zone width of deep and high seam strip-partial mining is analyzed by means of numerical simulation, obtained the calculation formula of the plastic zone width, the formula is suitable for the geological condition and mining condition of the research areas. In addition, the mining subsidence characteristic that the great mining depth and high seam strip-partial mining are obtained and the theoretical foundation for optimization design that the deep strip-partial mining are offered. All of these are because the mining subsidence of strip-partial mining in different deep is analyzed and strip-partial mining under the condition of the same percentage mining different mining width is siumulation studied.
