Because composite material has the merit of high intensity ratio, high elastic modulu ratio, strong ability of resisting tire and cauterization, it is widely used in the area of aviation, in particular, it plays an important role on helicopter, for example over half weight of some helicopter is made with composite material. Most composite laminated structures in plane are produced by solidifying laminated prepreg, so it is important to flatten laminated structures for manufacturing parts. Most structures of aeroplane have surfaces that can not be flattenned, if we want to flatten them with a higher precision, we often need creating cutting paths or dividing areas on surfaces, and then we can flatten them approximately. In this paper we have researched the technology of how to create cutting paths and divide areas on composite laminated structures, and the following work has been done:The writer gives an interactive method of creating cutting paths. This method needs specifying several points to imply the cutting paths, and then we give a method of creating cutting paths according to those points.The writer investigates a self-acting method of creating cutting path, this method can deal with surfaces with one boundary, surfaces with two boundaries, surfaces with more than two boundaries, and closed surfaces. All the nodes whose Gaussian curvature is larger than the threshold would be start points for creating cutting paths. The number of cutting paths can be changed by modifying the threshold.The writer gives a method of dividing surfaces based on gaussian curvature.The writer improves on a method of dividing surfaces based on Quasi-Rulings; give a method of second dividing, by doing this we solve the problem that two many small areas are created after first dividing.The writer gives a method of creating cutting paths after dividing areas, by doing this we can flatten surfaces more accurately.The writer develops a software module for flattening surfaces based on CATIA. With this software we can create cutting paths and divide areas on the composite laminated structures, after that we can flatten them, and the results can be adapted.
