This essay focuses on the laden zeolite catalyst prepared by us. A series of laden zeolite catalysts are prepared using sol-gel. We studied the properties of these catalysts and the photocatalytic degradation of diazodyes such as Congo Red.In the first chapter, we reviewed the structure, characteristics and great roles of zeolites in photocatalytic and other fields. The mechanisms for the photocatalytic oxidation and the present applications in dealing with waste water of these catalysts were described. In addition, we demonstrated the development, preparation and characteristics of these laden zeolite catalysts in this part.In the second chapter, the main researches involving the evidence and importance of the present studies were described. We also depicted the instruments, reagents, experimental apparatuses and methods of catalyst analysis and characterization in details. The experiments and results were discussed in this section. A series of laden zeolite catalysts such as Fe-Ti-zeolite, Ti-zeolite and Fe-zeolite loading with various zeolites such as ZSM-5, RDSY, REY, HY and REHY as carriers were prepared using sol-gel in this work. We have evaluated the photocatalytic properties of these catalysts by TOC removal ratio and color removal ratio using diazodye Congo Red as model compound of photocatalyst activity assessment in the experiment. Compared by the TOC removal ratio and color removal ratio of these catalysts, we found that the ZSM-5 zeolite laden catalyst was superior to others in the catalytic experiments. Finally, the much more excellent catalyst Fe(NO3)3-Ti-ZSM-5 was selected out in these series of ZSM-5 laden catalysts. The structure of the catalyst Fe(NO3)3-Ti-ZSM-5 was determined by XRD and IR. As a result, the ions of Fe3+ and Ti2+ have been introduced into the zeolite.Compared by its TOC removal ratio and color removal ratio in photocatalytic degradation of Congo Red, the experimental conditions using catalyst Fe(NO3)3-Ti-ZSM-5 have been optimized. As a matter of fact, the optimized conditions in the photocatalytic degradation is described as following: pH=3; 1:500(v/v) of H2O2; dosage of the catalyst is 1g/L. In this condition, the TOC removal ratio is 67% and the color removal ratio is up to 100% by photocatalytic degradation for 90 minutes. The experimental results were summarized in the last chapter. In addition, we have depicted the further research and development focused on these catalysts in our laboratory.
