Mixed juice clarification is the most difficult process with the highest cost in cane sugar mill. It is vital for sugar manufacture and mostly decides the output and quality of sugar products. Today, the main process are carbonic acid method and sulfurous acid method in cane sugar mill, there are wavy in quality of sugar products, and complex in process, high investment in equipment, high cost in CaO, high pollution with CO2, SO2 and residue. The mixed sugarcane juice was clarified by the steel slag in this research. The process is short in path, easy for operation, low investment in equipment, low cost in energy, low bad reaction and friendly to entironment with high ratio of decolouring and elimination impurity. The follow is the main contents in this research paper:(1) The effects of steel slag granularity and dosage, disposing temperature and time on the results of clarification were discussed by orthogonal experiments, and the optimum conditions of disposing were obtained as following: steel slag granularity 100 mesh and dosage 4g, disposing temperature 60C and time 4min, and under which the decolouring ratio is 55.76%, the purity difference of purified and unpurified juice is 0.52%, the feculent degree of purified juice is 35MAU, the sedimentation time of residue is 1.83min.(2) The mixed sugarcane juice were decoloured by single factor experiments in the light of orthogonal experiments outcome. The effects of steel slag granularity and dosage, disposing temperature and time on the results of decolouring were discussed, and the optimum conditions of disposing were obtained as following: steel slag granularity 100 mesh and dosage 3g, disposing temperature 45℃and time 5min. The biggest decolouring rate of steel slag in mixed sugarcane juice is 70.47%, and the elimination ratio for the iron ionic is 44.3%.(3) The mixed sugarcane juice were clarified by single factor experiments in the light of orthogonal experiments outcome. The effects of steel slag granularity and dosage, disposing temperature and time on the results of purity difference were discussed, and the optimum conditions of disposing were obtained as following: steel slag granularity 100 mesh and dosage 1.5g, disposing temperature 25℃and time 0.5min. The biggest purity difference of purified and unpurified juice is 7.36%, and the conductance difference is 10.8%.(4) The inducements of clarification for sugarcane juice with steel slag were discussed.
