Soil is the base of agriculture, and the environmental. Mining has concentrated some of these Heavy metals making them the major contaminants of many environment. To account for the actual toxicant exposures to environmental, an accurately assessment of the bioavailable form of contaminant is necessary. Bioavailability is a widely accepted concept based on the implicit knowledge that before an organism may accumulate or show biological response to achemical, that element or compound must be available to the organism. This study of heavy metal forms and bioavailability are the foundation for pollution recognition based on the soil samples and Sweet Potato samples form the area around Tangjia zink-leak mine in Hanyuan, Sichuan, China. The total concentration was analyzed to ensure the contamination. We also study the heavy metal forms by means of sequential extraction. The inner relationship between elements and between the same elements but the different forms was found out through the correlation analyze. Heavy metal forms extracted by hydrochloric acid and EDTA also did the analyze like heavy metal forms by means of sequential extraction.. Compare the Absolutely bioavailable heavy metal in the sweet potato with the total concentrations of heavy metal in the soil, the heavy metal forms by means of sequential extraction. These conclusions are given.1. The soil was badly contaminated by the heavy metal, but the contamination of sweet potato not very serious.2. The forms characteristic of heavy metal by means of sequential extraction, accord with the characteristic of geochemistry.3. The heavy metal bioavailability has high correlative with the heavy metal forms but the total concentration.4. We choose the best extraction for bioavailibility of heavy metal, should depend on the elements' chemical character.
