Most of gypsum mines employs the room and pillar mining due to the soft ore body and wall rock. But the gypsum mine can not achieve the level of coal or metal mine in terms of quantity, craft, equipment and safety. The stability problems arise with the mining depth increases and gob area expands, which involves the safety production of mines and mining plan in deep ore body. So it's significant to dispose the gobs in time, and the corresponding study is necessary.The finite differential software FLAC3D is applied to analyze the stress state of gobs, the pillar stability and the plastic zones, then the total stability evaluation is given. According to the features of stress distribution and the stability status, the safety measures and disposal methods of gobs are presented.The accidents of large-area roof falling in gypsum mine are the result of rock burst after the roof rupture. Through analysis of interaction between mining method geological condition, it is concluded that the mining method, the structure parameters of stope and non-disposal of gob are the substantial conditions and result in the roof falling in gypsum.According to the features of gypsum ore deposit, the improved sublevel caving method is recommended to raise the recovery ratio and eliminate the underground gobs.
