Paper is the necessaries in people's life. The demand of paper consumption is growing increasingly. We have confronted with serious problems on the supplying of wood pulp. Therefore, it is earnestly longing for seeking new paper making materials that with low price and no pollution to our environment to improve the paper product function instead of a proportion of plant fibre. The mineral fibre such as the sepiolite fibre and the wollastonite fibre have a similar structure with the plant fibre. So, it has a great significance to replace a proportion of the plant fibres with mineral fibres.After a systemic research on the characteristic and properties of the sepiolite and the wollastonite and the plant fibre, sepiolite dispersing and the wollastonite modification were carded out pertinency, the mineral fibres were compounded with plant fibres to make a new kind of paper, the performance and properties of the compounded papers were detected.By comparing the structure and of mineral fibre and plant fibre, analyzing the surface electrical property, comparing the microscope photos of these fibres. We made a conclusion that:â‘ Sepiolite fibre and plant fibre could be combined well when the sepiolite fibre had been dispersed into single fibre.â‘¡The length of wollastonite fibre was shorter than the plant fibre, and the plasticity was very weak, and the strengthen force between the fibres was not very strong. It was necessary to modify wollastonite to enhance its composite performance between the plants fibres and wollastonite.The dispersion, purification of sepiolite and modification of wollastonite were studied in this paper, and the final process conditions of purification of sepiolite was showed as follows: the dosage of dispersant of (NaPO3)6 was 3.0%, stirring rate was set to 900r/min for 60 minutes. Dispersing sepiolite for 30min in ultrasonic condition. Take cationic starch or PAM to modify the wollastonite. The surface electrical property of wollastonite modified by cationic starch declined. But the one that modified by PAM had changed only a little, however, the three-dimensional net structure was formed between wollastonite and other fibres It would increase the retention rate of wollastonite in wollastonite/plant-fibre composites The research on paper making by mineral fibre and plant fibre composite shows that: mineral fibre will decrease the strength of the paper, and its retention rate is not very high, especially, the un-modificd wollastonite will seriously affect the strength of paper. The modified wollastonite will raise paper's intensity and retention rate of wollastonite, the sepiolite/modificd-wollastonite/plant-fibre composite has a better performance than the sepiolite/plant-fibre composite and modificd-Wollastonite/ plant-fibre. The considerable concentrate of mineral fibre was 40%.In paper making, replacing partial fibre plant by mineral fibre will not change the production process, and it is feasible in technology. Under the premise of guarantee the paper's strength, it will help to reduce production costs and reduce environmental pollution on adding an appropriate amount of mineral fibre.
