The requirement of properties of garment, especially the appearance, is improving day by day,and the requirement of "wash and wear" of cotton garment is also improved. But most of thedurable pressed finishing reagents are the formaldehyde reagents, and the formaldehyde reagent can't match the requirement of environmental friendly times. Polycarboxylic acid durable pressedfinishing reagents were developed to be new environmental friendly reagents.Polycarboxylic acid durable pressed finishing reagents also have disadvantages, such as the highprice and some of their finishing effect can not match that of the formaldehyde durable pressedfinishing reagent. In this paper, the purpose is decreasing the price of the synthesis ofpolycarboxylic acid durable pressed finishing reagents. Some lower price carboxylic acids wereused in the synthesis of polycarboxylic acids, such as acrylic acid, maleic acid, and citric acid. Andthe key factors, pH value, reactant mole ratio, temperature and time, radical initiator, wereresearched in this paper, and the proper synthetical/blending technology was found. The finishingeffect of the finished fabrics between polycarboxylic acid durable pressed finishing reagents(non-formaldehyde finishing reagents) and low-formaldehyde reagents was tested. The result showsthey have the same finishing effect of the finished fabrics, except the white and tear strength of thefabrics, which were finished by polycarboxylic acid finishing reagents is better. In order to improve the dyeability of the durable pressed finished fabrics, the fabrics were treatedby cationic reagent. Found the best technology to improve the dyeability of durable pressed cottonfabrics treated by cationic reagent, and the cationization does not affect the wrinkle resistance ofdyed cotton fabrics. The electron-scanning photo of transverse section of the cotton fibers indicatesthat it is swelling in the basic condition. The fiber's amorphous zone was larged, so it is propitiousto the penetration of the cationic reagent, durable pressed reagent or dyes, and it is useful for thedyeing and crosslinking. Cationization to the fabric can improve the dry wrinkle recovery angle, and can't affect fabric's tear strength. In order to improve the effects of treated fabric, the process of cationization, durable pressfinishing and the dyeing, was arranged by several ways,The best-treated way to the cationic pretreatment on dyeability of the durable pressed fabricsdyed by direct dye is durable presse finishing→cationization→dyeing. After the treating, fabric'swrinkle resistance, leveling tendency, dye up taking, were improved. But its wet abrasion resistance is low.The best-treated way to the cationic pretreatment on dyeability of the durable pressed fabricsdyed by reactive dye is cationization→dyeing→durable presse finishing. Dye up taking is up to80%, but the fabric's shade was changed after treatment. The reason of color changing have notfound yet.To the pigment, the best-treated way to the cationic pretreatment on dyeability of the durablepressed fabrics dyed by pigment dye is durable presse finishing→cationization→dyeing.
