At present, most of traditional cotton fabric durable press finishing using amide and the early shrinkage of the formaldehyde, such as etherifying2D resin. Although this kind of fabric can obtain higher level of non-ironing,the formaldehyde emission problems will cause a stimulus to human body, and even cause cancer. As countries restrictions on textile formaldehyde release become stricter, and the increasing demand for non-ironing fabric, the inevitable developing trend of durable press finishing is the formaldehyde-free finishing agent in replace of formaldehyde finishing agent. Polycarboxylic acid such as butane tetra carboxylic acid (BTCA) as a kind of formaldehyde-free finishing agent, have the characteristics of environmental protection, good durable press performance, is a kind of the most promising alternative formaldehyde-free finishing agent of etherified2D resin.But has a low catalytic efficiency and inefficiency of wash and wear, expensive, have been unable to promote in the market. With the development of chemical industry in China, domestic companies have produced BTCA, so the price is no longer an obstacle to its industrial application.The favorable conditions enable us to develop the formaldehyde-free finishing technologyon the basis of BTCA.This topic isa part of the project supported by the national science and technology support plan research content,aimed at developpolycarboxylic acid butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA), with matching catalyst sodium phosphite (SHP) used for cotton fabric formaldehyde-free finishing production process, using modern analysis methods at the same time, starting from the mechanism of catalytic into anhydride into ester, scientific guidance to the formulating of production process.And will make the process for the production of the experiment, with the guidance of industry technical experts, using reasonable production process, finally won the market satisfactory result of formaldehyde-free wash and wear.First of all, we did adurable press finishing of cotton poplin process parameters for preliminary screening, by changing the concentration of BTCA, the catalyst concentration of SHP, baking temperature, baking time, to find out the impact of this four factors onnon-ironing recovery Angle and tear strength on longitude and latitude, and then we useda method of orthogonal experimental design to optimizetechnological parameterof pure cotton fabric durable press finishing andconfirm the sequence of durable press finishing effects.According to the results,baking temperature and baking time has the most impact.And we compare7kinds of no phosphorus catalystswith the phosphorous SHP catalyst, the results from the processing and the analysis of infrared testing found that SHP has the best effect, meanwhile sodium citrate and sodium tartrate also have good catalytic effect.Secondly, the mechanism of durable press is discussed in this paper. With the SHP, BTCA dehydrates toa six-member ring anhydride when heated, thenthe anhydride reacts with hydroxyl fiber to form ester bond cross linking reaction, thus increase the cotton fiber amorphous area intermolecular forces and achieve anti-creasing durable performance. In this paper, quantitative analysis of BTCA and SHP powder into anhydride, as well as the fabric treated with BTCA and SHP into anhydride and cellulose ester is studied, used to guide production process parameters of the final set. This paper usedthermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimeter and fourier infrared spectrometer to the explore the mechanism of durable press finishing with BTCA/SHP system. And filtratethe right baking temperature. The study ofprocess on BTCA/SHP mixture powder dehydration anhydride which molar ratio at0.5showed that anhydrideconverse most at160℃. Overall, for subsequent industrialization application we selected the suitable baking temperature at160℃and the baking time at3min.Finally, this paper detailed explores the possibility of industrial application of BTCA/SHP system instead of2D resin used to durable finishing. In the certain curing process, add the protectant HD-108on four different types of all cotton fabric (poplin, liquid ammonia imitation silk, plain and twill) to durable finishing and test results, determine the number of moles of the massive catalyst should be as BTCA0.5times. The more reasonable process of prescription is:the finishing agent BTCA concentration of70g/L, catalyst SHP concentration of16g/L, protectant HD-108concentration of20g/L, do not need to adjust pH value.And the durable press finishing test results plain and twill loft for mass production. On this basis we made Industrial production experiment, it was found that the actual situation of the factory and laboratory are different.The factory rolling stick with liquid rate is at about50%, thus increase BTCA concentration to120g/L, concentration of SHP to27g/L for lofting, mass production and add further treatment processessuch as washing, finalize the design and preshrinking. The result shows the DP level of cotton fabrics reach3.0, soft handle and non-formaldehyde release when the tear strength meet the standard ASTM D2262. We also find the retention rate of tear strength still have space to decline, so there is the possibility that DP level can be improved...
