Laser shock forming is the forming method that the force of shock waves generated by laser and material makes the metal sheet be deformed. The forming principle is that high energy and short pulse laser goes through the transparent restrain layer and irradiates the layer covers on the surface of the metal sheet which assimilates energy. The layer assimilates laser energy and the temperature gets higher, then the layer turns to be pneumatolytic. The vapor assimilates the laser energy and comes into being plasma. The plasma assimilates the laser energy and explodes, generating momentum pulse. Under the effects of the restrain layer, the pulse generates powerful shock waves which transmit to the inner of the sheet While the pressure of the shock waves is stronger than the dynamic yield limit, the metal sheet deforms. The physics process of the forming was researched and analyzed in the paper. The influence factors of one laser shock forming was discussed, on the basis of that, the precise forming idea of multi-points and multi-times was described, then the technology flow was designed. NURBS sculpt method was discussed, which made a foundation for surface modeling.According to the instructions defined for the laser shock process, MSComm in VC was used to compile the communication software. Track of laser shock forming can be created automatically on PC by slice software. Distortion of sheet metal can be measured real time. The shock processing can carry through automatically by reason of the communications between the host computer and servant MCUs.At last, NURBS was used to sculpt the forming surface, and the OpenGL NURBS modeling was used to achieve the reappearance of shock surface on computer., which made a foundation for the visual forming of laser shock.
