The Anodek process has been applied to treat phenolic wastewater in pilot scale. The research content was included as follows. Inoculating anaerobic activated sludge with aerobic bacteria.The effectivity of shock loading to the two-phase anaerobic sludge reactivtity and degradation efficiency was also surveyed.There were two programmes to investigate the acidification efficiency and the reason to cause the acidification.The content of acidification product and variation as different terms were also conducted.The two-phase anaerobic system ecological factors varing continuous assisted the investigation of microecosystem performance and the optimal range of different ecological factors in operation.The experimental results indicated the velocity of gas production and elevation is the key points to sludge granulatin process of UASB reactor.The variation of pH,gas production and its content can indicate the operation condition effectively.The phenol degradation capacity of methanogenic consortia bacteria is more than the acidification efficiency of unitary acid bacteria.Hydrogen pressure plays a very important role in the phenol acidification.The optimal hydrogen pressure range of benzoate and butyrate oxidation is 6.67×10-5~2.43×10-3 and 6.67×10-5~1.53×10-4atm respectively. Both the interspecies hydrogen transfer and nitrogen-filled continuous increased the acidize effecciency in the first phase. The acid hydrolysate of phenol is benzoate, butyrate and acetate.They appeared with different ratio at different pH level. The conversion of acid hydrolysate is completed below the height of 0.14m of UASB reactor chiefly.The subject of research is to explore the optimal operating mode, maximum treatment capacity and the optimal work parameters precondition the good degradation effecciency and energe conversation. The test results can conclude that the R2 system of second programme has explicit predominance in the maximum treatment capacity, shock loading, system stabilization and energe conversation. The system was recommended as the optimal programme without a doubt. So the optimal parameters of first phase is pH6.0~6.5,HRT 10~14h ,maximum COD volume loading 19.04 kg /(m3·d) and HRT 8~12h of the second phase.
