The research on Nano-particles deflocculant or dispersant is a hot and hard topic in the Nano-material research field and vitally important to the Nano-particles' stability and applications in different fields. However, Nano-particles deflocculant or dispersant which has a outstanding performance and their manufacture technologies usually were keep secrete. The research work in this paper studies the dispersions of multi kinds of materials for nano-CaCO3 by using free sedimentation and absorption spectrophotometry. Experiments showed the unconventionality of nano-particles' dispersal which was affected by the usually used dispersant: some dispersants of general particle, such as PAAS,PAAPS,AAS,AA/AMPS, also has certain dispersal to nano-CaCO3; on the other hand, some other kinds of dispersants of general particle, for example HPMA, accelerate the nano-particles' coacervation rather than dispersion. At the present day, PESA is internationally accepted as a green scale inhibitor, and has centain corrosion inhibition. However, we found that PESA showed its very good dispersion function to nano-CaCO3 in our experiments. Our results showed that the dispersion was enhanced with PESA increase. When the content of nano-CaCO3 was lower than fifty percents, the best content of PESA is one percent of the mass of nano-CaCO3; and if the content of nano-CaCO3 was higher than fifty percents, the number is one point five percents. Under the same conditions, the dispersions affected by different dispersant to nano-CaCO3, could be ranged from the strongest to the weakest as:PESA>PAAS>PAAPS>AAS>AA/AMPS.In order to find dispersant of nano-particles which has better performance, we did the further research on the synergistic disperse effect of PESA and other materials. The results showed that when we use PESA together with other dispersant (PAAPS,AA/AMPS,AAS) at the same time, the dispersion performance has a weaken trend rather than enhancement. The synergistic disperse effect of PESA, STPP and LAS is very obvious, when their mass ratio is 1.8 : 0.7: 0.1, they showed the best performance of dispersion and stabilityof nano-CaCO3. With synergistic effect dispersant increase, the dispersion affection was enhanced. When the mass content of nano-CaCO3 was lower than fifty percents, the best dosage of synergistic effect dispersant is point nine percents of the mass of nano-CaCO3; and if the mass content of nano-CaCO3 was higher than fifty percents, the best content is one point two percents of the mass of CaCO3.In order to explore the dispersion mechanism of the nano-particles affected by dispersant, we measured the infra-red spectrograms of PESA and the Nano-CaCO3 (both before and after we added PESA), and the results showed that the dispersions of nano-CaCO3 affected by PESA is the adsorption mechanism, which means PESA were adsorbed onto the Nano-CaCO3 particles. And the possible reason of why the adsorption function is so excellent, is a coaction result of—O—,—OH,—COOH and other groups.
