In this paper, two parts are mainly studied, one is the studies on the relations between preparation and properties of the rare earth/TPU composites, The other is the studies on both the preparation, structure and properties of Gd / cation exchange resin .In the first part, five fillers, which are La2O3, CeO2, Pr6O11 , Nd2O3, Sm2O3, separately, are selected to blend in TPU to prepare rare earth/TPU composites, and the filling amount of the fillers is changing in the experiment. In order to contrast to the traditional radiation-shielding material, which is lead rubber, PbO/rubber composites are prepared. Then the radiation-sheilding properties and mechanics properties of the six composites are tested. The emphases of the studies and analyses are put on the radiation-sheilding properties. The testing results show that the radiation-sheilding properties of the seven composites are improved as the filling amount of the fillers improves, and the radiation-sheilding properties are improved as the atomic number improves when the filling amount of the filler is the same. From these results, we find that the radiation-sheilding properties of the PbO/rubber composites is the lowest, which gives a proof that the rare earth/TPU composites prepared in the paper have some excellent properties, such as non-poisons, lightness, high-efficiency, etc. Meanwhile, We tested the radiation-sheilding properties of the rare earth/TPU composites in different incident electric voltages. We found that it is the best in 100kVp; It is because of the K and Lâ…¢absorption edge energy.In this part, Gd/cation exchange resin is synthesized, then its structure and propertic are tested.
