The pollution of initial rainfall-runoff in Suzhou city had made serious impact to the city river. This paper gives a way of using the land infiltration system to treat the runoff efficiently. The system of original soil infiltration and the constructed rapid infiltration was compared under the experiment of the initial rainfall-runoff treatment. The constructed rapid infiltration system was better and selected. The analysis of which showed the effect and stability in the treatment. The operation parameter was optimized. It also discussed the removal characteristic of the primary pollutant in the initial runoff and which is as followed:(1) The pollution of rainfall-runoff, especially in front 10 minutes, is so serious in Suzhou City. Except of the TP, the concentrations of COD, SS, TN, Ammonia-Nitrogen are all worse than the surface water standard of V.(2) The constructed rapid infiltration system is much more effective and stably in osmosis, treating effect and ability of revival rerunning than the original soil infiltration system. Therefore the constructed rapid infiltration system has the feasibility to reduce the pollution of initial rainfall-runoff.(3) Through the optimization of system operation parameter, saturation and non-inoculation start was band together, and adjust the hydraulic cycle from initial (inflow 4 hours, drying 20 hours) to a new one (inflow 4 hours, drying 44 hours), the treatment ability of the system was greatly improved. The primary pollutants removal rates of COD, ammonia-nitrogen was reached 93.53%,96.63%.(4) The removal rates is high at the above layer between 0~10cm, and sharply decreased in the lower layer between 10~70cm. The removal characteristic of the primary pollutants is that adsorption is the primary function in inflow part and microbial degradation is the chief way of the drying part. The ORP and oxygen restoration efficiency have a great infection on the treatment capability of the system.
