Multi-axis NC machining for free-from surface is very important in product manufacturing. This dissertation focus on the forecast and control of machining method error and scallop-height, and makes a systematic study on multi-axis NC machining technique using Mastercam software. It is valuable to generate surface machining cods on Mastercam and improve machining quality in practice.Based on the analysis for the performance, characteristics and workflow of Mastercam, the machining error of Multi-axis NC machining for free-from surface is discussed, a forecast approach for the multi-axis machining error is proposed and the corresponding compensate method for the machining error is given. The scallop-height generation is analyzed according to the way of the cutting breadth set, and the theory roughness degree of the free surface in multi -axis NC machining with Mastercam is forecasted. The way to improve the quality of the free surface in multi-axis NC manufacturing is given using the proposed forecast and control methods of machining error and coarse degree. The method and skill of how to modify a normal post processing file of multi-axes synchronous machining with Mastercam to a specified NC system are introduced.Theory analysis and experiments show that the proposed methods are feasible.
