In recent years, with the rapid development of industry and agriculture and municipal construction in Jiangyin city, the irrational allocation of water resource has caused deterioration of water quality in river networks. With the feature of shallow water body, slow flow velocity and random positive and negative direction in tidal river networks, the problem of water environment has seriously affected local residents' daily life.In order to improve the water environment in Jiangyin city, on the one hand, the effort to prevent water pollution and improve the efficiency of polluted water treatment should be made, on the other hand, the research on programme of water diversion to jiangyin from Yangzi River should be done. In order to exactly get the information of rivers in Jiangyin city and water diversion effectiveness, this paper made a research on prototype experiment of water diversion from Yangzi River to improve water environment and made the model of water flow and quality applied in this region.Based on the two experiments, This thesis made use of monitoring data,then calibrated the parameter of the model.Through simulation of water diversion by different programme, this paper made a research on the methods to improve water environment in city and water body by water diversion from Yangzi River, then by comparison of the results of two kinds of intercepting sewage programme, made fixed quantity analysis of the methods for improving urban water environment under the condition of intercepting sewage, finally, put forward the optimum programme of water conservancy engineering construction and water diversion to improve water environment and advanced the conception characterized by intercepting sewage as main means and water diversion as secondary means. The conclusion of the research by this paper laid a theoretical foundation for improving water environment in Jiangyin city, which is of importance for practice.
