In order to stabilize production process and guarantee strand quality, the temperature of the molten steel is required more strictly in continuous casting of steel. It becomes a very urgent problem to control temperature of molten steel accurately through establish an appropriate temperature schedule. And, the accurate forecasting of molten steel in LF is an important precondition to organizing production, improving steel quality, reducing cost and controlling temperature of molten steel.Based on the experimental investigation on hot behaviour of the ladle, a mathematical model of heat transfer was developed, which used in the stage from beginning tapping to the revolving platform point. And a mathematical model used for forecasting molten steel temperature during LF refining process is also established on the basis of energy-balance principle with theoretical analysis. Combined coupling derivation with radiant network equations in the ladle internal surfaces not contacted with molten steel. by structuring program Visual Basic, the ladle and molten steel temperature predicting model was programmed to computer procedure. The hot behaviour of various ladle in production cycles could be simulated using the mathematical model and relevant software. The temperature of molten steel and temperature distribution in ladle at anytime could be outputted either.According to the simulating forecast results, the influence of various factors on the hot state of ladles in thermal cycle process, and the influence of various factors on molten steel temperature in production cycles were analysed either. The dominated factors were found out:it is the most evidence that the effect of empty time and ladle capping on steel temperature, so it is needed to accelerating the heat turnover of the ladel, preheat time is secondly and adequate preheat which will be benefit for the teperature fall during tapping, slag layer thickness and ladle use times is inconspicuous.Comparing to the actual data, the forecasted and measured values were in a good agreement, and the calculate rate of model is quickly. It was sixty-five and ninety percent that the tolerance between practical temperature and predicted temperature is no more than±5℃and±10℃. The means that the model can be satisified for procing demand and can be applicated for steel temperature automatism control programme during the LF refining process.
