Gear drive is the fundamental of mechanical transmissions. Face gear transmission is a new gear transmission. It has many unique advantages. On the principles of face gear processing, development of computer simulation of shaping process of orthogonal-shaft face gear based on UG is achieved. Parametric design of involute gear cutter is realized. 3D parametric model of gear cutter is established. Shaping process of orthogonal-shaft face gear using involute gear cutter is simulated, and parametric model of face gear is generated. Automatic meshing procedure of face gear and involute gear is established. Interference analysis and motion simulation analysis of face gear meshing are done. A solid foundation for face gear shaping process, meshing and motion simulation analysis is laid.In the study of face gear shaping process, according to the processing theory, gear tooth surface equation, and the minimum inner radius and maximum outer radius are derived.In shaping processing orthogonal gear computer simulation, using Visual C ++6.0 and UG re-development, computer simulation of orthogonal face gear shaping process is realized, parametric model of face gear is derived after shaping process simulation.In the interference analysis and simulation of orthogonal gear meshing, using assembly approach based on dimension drive, the automatic meshing assembly of face gear and involute gear by re-development is realized, interference analysis and meshing simulation of face gear drive are accomplished.
