Compared with the traditional gear drive, face gear drive has many unique advantages inthe structure as a new type of transmission. Face gear drive that used in the field of aviationexist a potential advantage. The object of this study is the helical face gear hobbing. The maincontents of the study include the following aspects:According to the face gear transmission principle, the dot matrix that establish thenumerical tooth surface of the helical face gear is obtained by numerical calculation and theentity model of the helical face gear is established by Pro/E software and Matlab software.The parametric model of gear hob is completed by secondary development toolsProgram of Pro/E software. The interference analysis is found in the meshing process by rollcutting motion simulation with the hob model and the generated helical face gear model, andaccording to the interference analysis, the effective length of the hob is confirmed.On the basis of Y3150E type hobbing, the face gear hobbing was conducted by theexisting fixture of the face gear. Compared with the ordinary helical cylinder gears, a pair ofbevel gears were subjoined by the helical face gear hobbing, and the helical face gear ofhobbing was achieved by adjustment the machine parameters.The drive experiment equipment of the helical face gear was designed, a transmissionprinciple test of the helical face gear and the contact pattern testing were finished in thedesigned test-bed. The problems of the helical face gear in the processing were found byanalysis of experimental results and relevant solutions were proposed, providing the basis forlater face gear hob processing.
