Vinyl chloride (VCM) is an important basic chemicals, which is mainly used in the production ofpolyvinyl chloride(PVC). Using Ethane as raw materials produces VCM by oxychlorination opened up abroad way for comprehensive utilization of ethane, which can reduce the cost of VCM production. There istwo-step process in traditional ethylene production of VCM: First, synthesizes dichloroethane form vinylchlorination; and then to produce VCM by dichloroethane decomposition. The one-step synthesis of VCMby ethane oxychlorination, will not only reduce the cost of raw materials, but also shorten the route oftechnology, reduce energy consumption and have enormous economic benefits and promotion prospect. This paper studies the new synthesis technology of VCM, which takes ethane as raw materialproduces VCM by oxychlorination catalytic reaction. The catalyst was prepared by wetness impregnationwithγ-Al2O3 as carrier, CuCl2 as main catalyst, KCl and LaCl3·xH2O as co-catalyst. The effect ofconcentration of copper, potassium and lanthanum on catalyst activity was investigated, then theformulation of catalyst was determined, and the catalyst structure was characterized. The effect oftechnology parameters such as reaction temperature, air flow speed, HCl flow speed and contact time oncatalyst properties was investigated, including the life of catalysts containing lanthanum. The results showthat the conversion of ethane was over 95%, the yield of VCM was over 25%,the reactivity of catalyst waslonger than 100 hours when the reaction temperature was 450-500℃, the contact time was 2-4s and theratio of C2H6:HCl:Air was 1:3:5 with the catalyst of takingγ-Al2O3 as carrier, contain Cu 5%, K 6%, La5%.
