Electroluminescence (EL) has been widely used as a tool to study the trap structure,the storage and transport of space charge and the structure transition and molecular motion. The EL can been used to study the theory, meanwhile it also can be used to analyzing material electrical and optical characteristics. The complication of the polymeric molecular structure and its motion, will cause the EL much more complex.We designed an experimental set-up for measuring the EL of the polymer. Under the condition without loading, the mean value of photo counter's dark noise is 16cps (test temperature : 20℃), its sensitivity is 2.3×10-17W; optical spectrometer's sensitivity is 3.0×10-17W, the resolution is 4nm, repetitive error is not greater than 2nm.The EL's strengthen and the spectra of PET film under the DC field were tested by the set-up. The EL's strengthen of PET film increases as the fields, and every material has an EL's threshold electric field which decided by the material and the tested values decided by the sensitivity of the test-set. The threshold electric field of PET calculated by the dates is 3.5MV/cm. Because of the Van der walls'forces, the EL lined with the electric field. And the Schottky barrier's height decides the amout of the injected electron. The spectra of PET is made up of the excimer fluorescence peak at 390nm-450nm, the monomer phosphorescence peak at 575nm and the peaks of degradation by-product at 615nm ,680nm and 780nm.
