Eleven kinds of ionic liquids:. 3-ethyl-1-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate([Emim]+[BF4]+),3-butyl-1-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim]+[BF4]-),3-octyl-1-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Omim]+[BF4]-),3-butyl-1-methyl-imidazolium hydrogen sulfate([Bmim]+[HSO4]-),1-methyl-imidazolium hydrogensulfate([Hmim]+[HSO4]-),1-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate([Hmim]+[BF4]-),1-methyl-2-oxopyrrolidinium hydrogen sulfate([Hpyro]+[HSO4]-),1-methyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)-imidazolium hydrogen sulfate([HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]-),1-methyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)-imidazolium 4-methylbenzenesulfonate ([HSO3-pmim]+[pTSA]-),1-(3-sulfopropyl)-pyridinium hydrogen sulfate([HSO3-pPydin]+[HSO4]-),triethyl-3-sulfopropan-1-aminium hydrogen sulfate([HSO3-pTEA]+[HSO4]-), were prepared andused for the catalyst of systhesis of plasticizer esters。The ionic liquids which havegood catalytic and reusable performances were characterized with IR, 1H-NMR,13C-NMR and TG-DSC.Among all the ionic liquids used in synthesis of Dioctyl phthalate(DOP), theacidic functionalized ionic liquids [HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]- showed good catalyticactivity and reuse performance. Under optimum conditions, the conversion ofphthalic anhydride were more than 98%. When the ionic liquids dosage was 30%w,[HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]- can be reused 8 times with the conversion of phthalicanhydride not less than 95%. Among the ionic liquids used in synthesis of Dioctylsebacate (DOS), two kinds of ionic liquids which with good performance werechoosed. The acidic ionic liquids [Hpyro]+[HSO4]- showed wonderful catalyticactivity and the conversions of sebacic acid was over 99%. When its dosage was20%w, [Hpyro]+[HSO4]- can be reused 9 times with the conversion of sebacic acidnot less than 98%. The acidic functionalized ionic liquids [HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]-also showed good catalytic activity and the conversions of sebacic acid was more than 98%. When the ionic liquids dosage was 15%w, [HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]- can bereused 8 times with the conversion of sebacic acid not less than 96%. Among theionic liquids used in synthesis of Dibutyl phthalate(DBP), the ionic liquids[HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]- showed good catalytic activity and the conversion ofphthalicanhydride was up to 99%, but [HSO3-pmim]+[HSO4]- cannot be reused for itsdecomposition within the polar reaction fluids. On the contrary, [HSO3-pmim]+[PTSA]- showed good catalytic activity with the conversion of phthalic anhydridewere up to 99%and not less than 96%after being used for 6 times.This paper were writen on the topic of finding new esterification catalyst ofplasticizer esters. For the first time that several ionic liquids, specially the acidfunctionalized ionic liquids, were used as the catalyst of plasticizer esters. Somekinds od ionic liquids which with good catalytic activity and reusable performancewere choosed. Therefore an environmental friendly approach for the synthesis ofplasticizer esters is provided.
